Terms of Service

Last Updated: July 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Solent Angler (solentangler.co.uk), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, do not use our tools, predictions, or materials.

2. Tide Predictions & Operational Disclaimer

CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: All predictions, hydrographic models, and recommended presentation windows calculated on this site are simulated using mathematical astronomical tide models. They do not constitute official navigation or safety-critical hydrographic charts.

Solent Angler accepts absolutely zero responsibility or liability for any equipment loss, personal injury, strandings, or incidents resulting from relying on these mathematical estimations. Always check local meteorological conditions, swell forecasts, and official United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) charts before setting out on shoreline fishing expeditions.

3. Fishing regulations are your responsibility

This site summarises UK fisheries rules — minimum sizes, bass bag limits and closed seasons — in plain English for anglers, and links to the official sources on each page. Those summaries are provided for general information only and are not legal advice.

Regulations change, sometimes at short notice. Bass limits are renegotiated annually and Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority byelaws are amended from time to time. Any figure published here was believed correct on the date shown, and may no longer be current. The GOV.UK and Southern IFCA pages we link to are the authority, not this website.

Taking undersized fish or exceeding a bag limit is a criminal offence. You are responsible for checking the current position before you retain any fish, and for complying with all applicable regulations, byelaws and access restrictions at the mark you are fishing.

4. Safety on the shore

Shore angling carries real risk. Tidal cut-off, slippery ledges, rogue waves, night sessions and cold exposure have all caused serious injuries and deaths to anglers on this coast.

Nothing published here can assess the mark you are standing on, in the weather and tide conditions of the moment. Our safety guide is general advice from one angler to another and is not a substitute for your own judgement, local knowledge, or professional training. You are solely responsible for deciding whether it is safe to fish.

In an emergency on the coast, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

5. Use of materials

You may access and use the material on this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not republish, redistribute or systematically copy the content, or scrape the site by automated means, without permission.

6. Accuracy and availability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the site will be available uninterrupted or free of errors.

We try hard to get things right and we correct mistakes promptly when they are pointed out. If you find an error — a tide offset that looks wrong, an out-of-date regulation, a tactic that doesn't match reality on a mark you know — please tell us.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Solent Angler and those who operate it accept no liability for any loss or damage — including personal injury, loss of or damage to equipment, wasted journeys, fines or other financial loss — arising from any use of, or reliance on, this website.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Third-party links and advertising

This site links to external sources including GOV.UK, Southern IFCA, the RNLI, the Met Office and the UK Hydrographic Office. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability, although on the matters they cover they are the definitive source.

The site displays advertising, which keeps it free to use. Adverts are served by third parties and are not chosen, reviewed or endorsed by us. See our privacy policy for how advertising cookies are handled.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
