Get In Touch
This site is run by one person who fishes the Isle of Wight and Solent shore marks, so replies come from an angler rather than a support desk. Messages usually get answered within a few days.
What's worth writing in about
- Corrections. The most useful thing you can send. If a tide offset looks wrong for a mark you know well, or a minimum size has changed, or a seasonal window doesn't match what you're actually seeing on the beach — please say. Regulations in particular move, and an out-of-date figure on the rules page is worse than no figure at all.
- Marks that should be listed. The planner covers 21 venues around the island and the Solent. If there's an accessible shore mark missing that deserves inclusion, let us know which and roughly where.
- Species detail. If the tactics or bait recommendations don't match your experience on a particular mark, that's genuinely useful. Local variation is real and no single sheet captures it.
- Things that are broken. Pages that won't load, tide calculations that look off, anything that renders badly on your phone.
What we can't help with
Safety decisions. Nobody can assess from a keyboard whether a particular ledge is safe on a particular tide in particular weather. Use the safety guide, check the Met Office inshore waters forecast and official UKHO tide tables, and if in doubt don't fish. In an emergency on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Legal rulings. We summarise fisheries rules in plain English and link to the source, but we can't tell you whether a specific fish was legal to keep or whether a particular byelaw applies to your situation. Southern IFCA are the people to ask, and they're helpful.
Precise spot locations on private ground. A fair amount of Solent shoreline is privately owned or has restricted access, and we won't direct people onto ground they have no right to be on.
